To know about Havokinica, you must first know about me and my people. I am part of a group known as the Bendettie. We are a nomadic race scattered across the Earth. We are not Earth-born and are unlike the 6 billion people that inhabit this lovely planet.
It only lives in oral tradition but legend has it that 2000 years ago we made a great pilgrimage from our home planet. Over time the true name of our planet has been lost. With our adaptation into culture after culture the words of our home planet have all but disappeared. The name Havokop is all we have, a throughly mangled word that ironically binds us together.
We exist among you. Our chosen purpose is to help those that are in need. We are just like you except for what you may consider "extraordinary powers." Each one of us is able to, at will, pass through solid matter or become unable to be seen with the naked eye. These traits we do not consider special in any way, for all of us can do these actions. On the home planet, from the time we are born to the day we die, we never wondered about these things we can do. For these things are necessary to be able to live on the home planet.
Whenever you hear about or experience an occasion where some stranger comes out of the blue and helps a person in need but then suddenly disappears, that is us. It is not that we are afraid of being discovered. No one would believe such a story if they heard it on the news. Rather, the reason that we disappear whenever we help someone is due to our culture. For us it is taboo to take pride in the act of helping another. It is our duty to act at the highest levels of altruism. Some may think we are angels due to the way we seem to come from nowhere and then just disappear. We are not angels, just beings who have found a purpose.
Havokinica, named in honor of our home planet, is the day when the sun, moon, and the planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will align in a straight line. This alignment will create increased gravitational forces pulling on the Earth. Our technology is based on harnessing the power of gravity. The increase in gravitational forces will allow us to power a device with which we will use to try and locate our home planet. We know what to look for, and have the computational power to find it before the alignment ends. If we find the home world we will be able to transmit a message to them tell them where we are. Once they know where we are they will be able to open a portal linking our two worlds. We will not be searching in what you humans call the electromagnetic spectrum. Our people long ago discovered ways of communicating using forces closely related to gravity. These forces, like gravity, propagate instantaneously.
The eventual reunion with the home world has been spoken by some of our greatest prophets. The prophets foretell of how a man we call Sextus Sixtus Septus will come here as an emissary to your planet. He will perform great "miracles" and cause Earth to have many years of peace.
So that is what Havokinica is all about. It is also about hope, helpfulness and friendship. I can hardly wait for the day.
