Look below, there is nothing but pavement,
There on the ground. I must use my judgment
To decide whether or not I will abandon
My life to this cord or rather examine
The options that I have. Should I stay,
Or will I jump and possibly have to pay
For a choice that I made on a dare
From a friend who must not really care
About this peril in which I am taking.
I can imagine jumping and then breaking
Into millions of pieces as my body hits
The ground below. Who will pick up the bits
And pieces of a man’s futile attempt to assert
His manhood. Do we really have to pervert
Life into a race to prove ourselves to what
We feel that it should really be? This strut
Can support us but that is not my fear.
Yes we are high above the ground here,
But how high that it is you ask? We are
at least 185 feet from the ground, far
From the ones we love waiting below
Until we finish this task. They will glow
With joy once we are delivered unhurt
Into their waiting arms below. To flirt
With danger we must now do because we
Have paid thirty dollars so that we can see
The ground rush up to us and then rush away
As the cord tightens then we will soon sway
Back and forth. So let us now go and fly
Else we go back down the ladder from this high.
